Summer 1998

I have a bestfriend, we call her TongTong. TongTong had an idling keyboard at home which she wanted to use only that she didn't know how to hit the notes. She decided all of a sudden to enroll in the piano school. She asked me to go with her when she enrolled, and asked me to be with her during her 1 hour a day classes. I took the invitation GLADLY and WITH A WIDE SMILE and you may wonder why… WHY because she enrolled in a home-based piano school in a subdivision the same road passing by Rendel's house! So I was like, sure no problem!

When I said yes to my bestfriend, I was filled with the excitement of maybe seeing Rendel occasionally. To the best of my luck though, I saw Rendel almost everyday of my life during that summer, playing basketball with the people around his uncle's shop! What a perfect continuation to my lofty kilig moments! Me and my bestfriend would sit at the back of the passenger tricycle so I could have a long-lasting good view of Rendel without being noticed! That was so simple back then, a good sight was all I needed!

Almost half of my summer was substantially fed, thanks to God for giving me a bestfriend who was fervent to learn playing the piano! Sure I really had a fun and exciting vacation! Dot dot dot… then came another school year.

…and then it was the end of the school year…

The field trip high moments went by and suddenly it was the end of the school year already. The chance of sighting Rendel around was becoming lesser; he was nowhere to be found during those times. Everybody was busy accomplishing the clearance forms and I was waiting for the day he'd come to the annex campus to have the head teacher sign his form. I'd know it when he is around anyway. Thou shall not discount the earth shattering uproar his presence would bring to my classmates, haha! I saw a glimpse of him on the very last day of school. I heard he was going away already. I overheard he told someone he'd include me in his luggage so he could bring me with him. That was it. The end.

The Field Trip Story

I will fast-track the story so we can be at present already!

Okay… We had an educational field trip for all 2nd-year students of our Biology class sometime on February 1998. I can't recall if the field trip was before or after Valentine's Day… but anyway… When the teacher announced there's going to be a field trip I was like… Oh my God Oh My God! Is Rendel going and are we going to be on the same bus??? ;) I was too excited that I asked the teacher for the transportation arrangement right then and there. I was saddened by the arrangement per class, but fortunately though for me, that was already better that Rendel was on another bus because I really needed a break in-between site destination to compose myself and bring me back to present. I could never imagine though how noisy the bus would be had we been together in the same bus! So anyway, the night before the trip I really thought of something to wear so I could go unnoticed and ta-dah!!! I decided to wear a cap! Haha! That was really baduy thinking about it now…

Mmm… the itinerary went: 1) Crocodile Farm, 2) GAP Farms, 3)Philippine Eagle, 4) Malagos Garden…

Needless to say of course that in every destination my eyes were restless for the usual scanning mode… Oh where was he, who's group of students was he with, what's the color of his bag or the color of his shoes so I could spot him easily. I remember during the last stop, I used my compact powder mirror to scan around! Like he was really the star of my beautiful eyes! Like I could never really calm down and be at peace. I was shy, I was excited, and a mix of a lot of different unexplainable emotions a teenager could feel being in the same situation.

It was maybe three or four years ago when Honey and I talked about the field trip thru text… (We were textmates for some time – I'll tell the story when I'm done with all the past untold stories PROMISE!) We somehow agreed that when he gets to come home, we'd visit those places again. I waited in vain for too long until 2008 came and he had his vacation. We were already in the love-zone that time when we visited the places where we had our 2nd year field trip. ;)

More of the untold old stories soon...

Kara Rendel Starks Facebook Relationship Status

Out of sheer nothing, I went to revolutionize our relationship status from engaged-to-married. Guess what? We got a thread of reactions from our facebook addict neighbors, haha! Grrrrrrrreeeeaaaaaat! Love it! One crazy and out of the blue experimental ordeal. Sooooo me by the way.

Today is Wednesday, and it’s Cold…

It is during times like this that it's best to laze-off, lie in bed, stare at nothingness, be drowned in the silence of the morning, noon, and night. Gossssshhhhhh! How I wish I could just do my favorite passion in life. It is in times like this too that I get to feel the missing-you feeling the most. It is raining for the whole day in here, Honey told me it was raining there too – we are tuned in to the same weather channel ;) We talked about it a little today. Good enough. Cold feet cold feet… and humming…

Being with the DBC Part 2

Since my early years, I have recognized the gift of how to get what I want by using my devilish charms. I used my being with the DBC to my advantage – just to see Rendel at the main campus. Fortunately, I was friends with the DBC moderator, and every time he called for a group practice, I would with all of my devilish powers convince him to have the band practice at the main campus. I would tell the moderator things like, we could have a better formation Sir if we would have the practice at the main campus… though of course my very reason was to feed my eyes with a nice view. I remember, it was during my history class that I secretly went out of the classroom (which was a mortal sin when you are under Diego Matao) and went to the band room just to confirm if we were pushing thru with our practice at the main campus. I wasn't able to contain my excitement and not too obvious at that, so when I went back to my class, Diego Matao was there by the veranda, huge and towering and told me… "Aba madrama… balik sa upuan!!!" Haha! The crazy things I did during my high school.

More of My High School High-Being with the Drum and Bugle Corps Part 1

I was part of the drum and bugle corps during my high school and I was in since my 2nd year, that was school year 1997-1998 to be precise. Our school had 2 campuses; I stayed at the annex campus while Rendel was at the main campus. That was not really a very conducive set-up for my high school kilig moments, but nevertheless I got the high. On Mondays, the flag ceremony was held at the main campus, it was like a week starter as we get to hear announcements from the Head Teacher, the School Principal, and the School Superintendent. During Mondays too, I was with the school band and played Lupang Hinirang and the Alma Mater Song, we played beside the stage so I really had a good view of the students lined up in their respective rows! It was every Mondays too after the United Nations event that my eyes went scanning for the row where Rendel was. I don't recall seeing him during the flag ceremonies though, maybe because he always came late ;) But I recall the feeling of excitement; I recall the feeling of looking forward to each and every Monday of that school year just to catch a glimpse of my high school high.

Bookmarks for Honey

I made these myself! Could you believe how lucky my Honey is for having a crafty girlfriend? Well he was actually expecting I did him a sweater, haha! My Honey aside from being lucky has got some extreme imagination like nothing in the world. My delayed Christmas gift, he got these just today or may I say tonight? He got it when he got home from work ;) That's a nice job dear courier, 3-4 days indeed. Perfect.
